8K Run Through Prague
Set alarm for 6:00 but when it went off, it was dark out and all I could hear outside was a downpour of rain, so went back to sleep, got up again at 7:50 to a bright morning and no rain, so donned my fully worn-out running shoes one last time (afterward left them in Prague) and took off into the city. Ran up to the National Museum, then down past the modern Dancing House out across the river, ran through a few streets with the Praguers all going to work, then entered Petřín Park and immediately started climbing vertically on the paths up to where I had some wonderful views overlooking the city. Once I caught sight of the St. Vitus Cathedral in the distance, I started downward into the Malá Strana part of town, then caught up with another runner and follower her over the Charles Bridge, beautiful and empty so early in the morning. Got lost a bit in the old part of town, but not a bad thing in Prague, ran down some wonderful alleyways and streets until I finally found Václavské náměstí again and ran back up to the hotel. This was the last run with my shoes that have been with me for my last five marathons, this was our parting run, will be buying new shoes this weekend to continue my training for Barcelona in March.
