13K Home-from-Halensee Grunewald-Run with Gisi
Continuing our training runs together in preparation for whatever half marathon we are going to run this spring (Berlin?, Poznan?, Geneva?), Gisi and I ran a 1K warm-up run to our reserved DriveNow MINI Cooper at Selerweg, hopped in and drove out to Hubertusallee, almost to the Halensee S-Bahnhof. As we arrived, a song came on the radio that Gisi had sent to me on a cassette tape to America in 1992 when we were living apart from each other (), a nostalgic beginning to a nice run.

In classic training-run form, Gisi took off down Koenigsallee, me following. At 1K, Gisi's new Garmin watch showed a solid 7:09 pace and we continued down Koenigsallee past the embassies. We took a left turn into the Grunewald on a beautiful forest path down to Grunewaldsee all the way to Hüttenweg, then back Dahlem-bound toward the Freie Universtät. While Gisi took off down Drakestraße, I got a drink for us at the gas station on Unter den Eichen. I finally caught up with her near the Goethe Gymnasium, and from there we kept a solid 7:00 pace via Bäkestraße back home.
