22K Light-to-Dark Run Zehlendorf Run with 4K Running Path Discovery
I took off Saturday a little after 14:00, an initial blast of cold but after 10 minutes or so, was a comfortable temperature to run. My idea was to head toward Zehlendorf to Teltower Damm then make a wide arch up north at some point and come all the way back, which I basically did but on my way to Teltower Damm on Leo Baeck Straße, I noticed on my right a little pathway between a Schrebergarten going north and wondered how far it went. Taking a quick look on Google Maps, I saw that it kept going quite a ways, so I turned north there and kept running on it, which, although you have to cross streets at a few points, you can run for about 4K undisturbed on path ways with no cars or noise. It took me over a bridge over the S-Bahn near Sundgauer Straße and took me all the way up to near the U.S. Embassy on Clayallee. There I continued up Clayallee but as it turned into Hollenzollerndamm, it started to get too dark and cold to continue on northward into the city, so I turned on Forckbeckstr. and headed home from there through Dahlem. A nice, cool run, got up to good speed at times now with sore legs, so another good base training run with 67 days till the Rotterdam Marathon.
