19K After-Work Run with Timed Tiergarten 5K (26:47)
Continuing the running tradition of taking the S-Bahn after work to some distant station and then running home from there for a change of course, I got in the S-Bahn with the intention of getting out at Pankow S-Bahnhof. However, I soon discovered that this would involve Pendelverkehr and so decided to just get off at Landbergerallee and take off for there, which quickly put me running up the over 100 steps in the Volkspark and then down the other side to catch the very long Michelangelostraße/Ostseestraße/Wisbyerstraße/Bornholmerstraße/Osloerstraße which spans between Prenzlauer Berg East to Gesundbrunnen West over the historic Bornholmer Brücke. In any case, after a long trek through north Berlin, I descended back down into Berlin Mitte, coming out at the Hauptbahnhof itself, ran right through it, over the Gustave-Heinemann-Brücke and down to my 5K starting line in front of the Brandenburg Gate at the Tiergarten. Even during the first kilometer of my 5K run, I noticed the 14K already in my legs and so just found a good pace that I could keep throughout the run. Afterwards, I decided that that was enough adventure running for the evening, got a DriveNow and sped home.
